Heighten hydration with flavor-infused water

Flavored Waters

Lemon-lavender, strawberry-mint, and cucumber-thyme flavored waters, May 2013

Do you succeed in getting your recommended 8 glasses of liquids daily? If so, good for you! I don’t—for some reason it’s a continual struggle. During cold months, herbal tea is a hydration helper. With warmer weather, I’ve started to drink flavor-infused water. It goes down easy, helping me to happily meet my quota.

These three recipes are for flavors I like. For other flavors, experiment with your favorite ingredients. A formula to start with, per quart of filtered water, is a few slices of fruit or vegetable and a sprig or two of fresh herbs. If you don’t have fresh herbs, place about 1 tablespoon dried herbs in a mesh tea ball. Refrigerate at least 4 hours. Replenish mixture by adding water to the ingredients for 3 to 4 days.

    2 limes
    handful of cilantro
1 jalapeno pepper sliced (seeds removed).

    ZESTY!

Not spicy, but you get the pepper taste.

    Enjoy.

      Jennifer,

Yes, aren’t flavored waters great? And so many variations are possible. Blueberry sounds wonderful. I’m so into blueberries lately.

Thanks for stopping by and for sharing your blog!

  3. These sound wonderful! I usually carry a bottle of water around with me all day, so that definitely helps me get my daily water intake 🙂 Sometimes I squeeze some lemon in there, but I will definitely give these a try.

Thanks so much for sharing it on Waste Not Want Not Wednesday, Eileen, I’ve pinned it 🙂
